HIFU (High-intensity Focused Ultrasound) treatment is a non-invasive and non-surgical treatment for face lifting, wrinkle reduction, double chins and body sculpting. It uses focused ultrasound energy to target different layers of the skin. During the treatment, high-frequency ultrasound beams are emitted into the target tissue sites, causing the tissue to heat up rapidly, initiating the cells’ healing process. This stimulates the production of new collagen and results in tighter, firmer skin. While this may seem counterintuitive, the beams are focused only on the targeted tissue sites below the skin’s surface. Therefore, no damage is caused to the upper layers of the skin. DualHI+™ For Face
DualHI+™ HIFU technology can be used with any skin complexion. It works best on skins with mild to moderate facial tissue sagging. The results from a HIFU face treatment are comparable to a modern facelift procedure but without the risks associated with a surgery.
During a DualHI+™ face treatment, ultrasound energy at a temperature of 65-70°C is emitted into 3 layers under the skin. It creates minor injuries to those layers, triggers the ‘healing’ response in the skin, stimulates collagen reproduction and results in firmer and tighter skin.
SMAS Layer (depth of 4.5mm) – The SMAS (superficial muscular aponeurotic system) is a layer of tissue deep within the skin and subcutaneous tissue. Being the most important support structure for the face, the SMAS is the layer that cosmetic surgeons tighten during a facelift surgery. DualHI+ HIFU can effectively achieve the comparable effect without going under the knife.
Dermis Layer (depth of 3.0mm) – The Dermis layer is where collagen and elastin are produced to provide the skin’s strength, enabling the skin to stretch. The gradual decrease of these two fibres causes our skin to sag, wrinkle and lose tone. DualHI+ HIFU treatment targets the dermis layer to regenerate collagen, improve elasticity, smooth wrinkle appearance and reduce pore size.
Epidermis Layer (depth of 1.5mm) – The Epidermis layer is outmost skin layer. Fine lines and wrinkles are visible on the skin surface when the underneath dermis layer starts to lose collagen and elastin fibres. DualHI+ HIFU treatment on this upper skin layer can instantly reduce fine lines and wrinkles, giving you naturally radiant, plump and youthful skin.
Most clients see immediate difference after a DualHi+ HIFU face treatment. The best result comes 3-6 months after the treatment when the cycle of collagen reproduction completes. Results from one treatment generally last 12-18 months. When combined with a healthy lifestyle and suitable skin care regime, the result can last even longer for up to 3 years. Most people need only 1-2 full treatments in the first year. People with photodamaged skin or a high degree of loose skin may require multiple treatments to see the desired results. During the treatment session, ultrasound energy in controlled high temperature is delivered into targeted layers of subcutaneous fat as deep as 6.5mm, 9.5mm & 13mm, killing fat cells in an instant. The damaged fat cells will then be flushed away via our body’s natural process – the lymphatic drainage system – that continues for up to 3 months. Not only does the thermal effect destroy the fat cell, it can also create collagen contraction in the treatment area, achieving a skin-tightening effect.

Depending on the areas to be treated, the duration of each treatment ranges from 15 to 60 minutes, plus 20-30 minutes pre-treatment preparation and post treatment care.
Q3: How fast will I see results?
DualHI+™ HIFU treatments target the deeper layers under the skin. Usually, the best results come between 2-6 months after the initial treatment. Results are permanent.
For a face treatment, enhanced skin radiance and tone can be seen immediately after the session. The effect of a HIFU treatment will continue up to six months when the collagen fibres regenerate and restructure themselves. HIFU face treatment results generally last 12-18 months, sometimes up to 3 years depending on your lifestyle and the aging process.
For a body treatment, the fat cells are burnt instantly during the session but the metabolic wastes will take 2-4 months to be fully flushed out from the body through our natural lymphatic drainage system.

Q4: How many HIFU treatments do I need?
DualHI+™ HIFU treatments deliver permanent results with just one session. Whiles most clients need only one session, some may benefit from repeated treatments depending on their starting point and end goals, degree of skin laxity, individual biological response to HIFU treatment and lifestyle, etc. Maintenance treatment every 1-2 years can also help keeping pace with our body’s natural ageing process.
A full HIFU face or body treatment can be repeated within 3-6 months. For an express face toning or mini treatment, it can be repeated every 2-4 weeks.
At the initial consultation, we will assess your conditions and make recommendations for a treatment plan for you. We will also review your results 8-12 weeks post treatment and discuss if a repeated session is required.
To keep the results longer, remember to exercise regularly, eat nutritious food, sleep well, drink plenty of water and use suitable skin / body care products.
Q5: Are there any downtime and side effects?
HIFU is a very safe technology. The ultrasound energy bypasses the upper skin layers, causing no damage to the skin. No downtime is required. You can resume your normal activities.
Possible side effects after a HIFU treatment include redness on skin, swelling, tenderness, numbness or tingling sensations. These symptoms are usually mild and temporary and will disappear in a few hours to just a few days.

Q6: Is a HIFU treatment painful? How do I feel at the treatment?
During the treatment, you may experience some discomfort. When the ultrasound energy is emitted, you may feel heat and tingling. Some people describe it as tiny pulses or a light prickly sensation. This indicates that the collagen-building process has been initiated. Everyone’s comfort levels vary. The discomfort sensation only lasts a second or two while the energy is being delivered. It will then be a faint memory. Immediately after the treatment, your skin may feel warm and flushed – like a mild sunburn which will gradually subside over the next few hours.
